" /> Entryway Refresh - Jessi Morgan Home

I was ready to have a entryway refresh in this space to be more functional and modern

I had to do it. I had to do an entryway refresh and make it a bit more functional. We have a lot of guests that come and stay with us at times and one of my biggest pet peeves is leaving shoes at the front door. It isn’t their fault AT ALL. I appreciate that they remove their shoes before walking into the home, but then there is no real place to put them if we have 3 or more people visiting at once.

We do have a mud room for our shoes, our work bags and leashes etc for the dog but when we have a lot at once it can become messy since it is at the entrance of the house. So we got smart and finally put together a entryway with style.

I still wanted it to be clean, and give our home a great impression when people visit. Here’s my tips on a great entryway:

  1. Nice Storage – When guests come and remove their shoes, give them a nice container to put their shoes in. I went for a black cloth basket vs a regular straw one. I like neutral but really love black accents recently.
  2. No need to have two of everything – I refused to get 2 ottomans or two baskets, as long as there is balance we can make it work.
  3. Need high and lows regardless – Remember to bring height so everything is not on the same level. I bought faux branches to give height to my entry table and added coffee books to elevate some of our vases.
  4. Keep a color story – I went for a wood, black, white and grey feel to the my entryway. I also made sure the coffee table books went with the color story too.
  5. Ensure entryway is wider than your mirror or picture on the wall – To develop balance to the eye, your table should be wider than what you hang on the wall.
  6. Have a bowl or container – I did this because this is a great way to store keys! Both my husband and I at times misplace our keys and now its easier to find them and put them away with the bowl being confidently placed at the front door. Less stress now!

We love our entryway so much.

XOXO,

Jessi Morgan
